Where History Meets Heart

McCulloch Agencies is proud to present for sale "Anglea House" nestled in the beautiful country town of Walcha.

Steeped in history, this stunning home offers a unique opportunity to own a property with character, charm, and an interesting story to tell. The home also features an attached Airbnb, which was very popular with guests until recently when the owner retired.

The home was built by Dr C.U.D. Schrader in 1882, where he practised medicine for the following decade. In 1891, he sold "Anglea House" to Mrs L.A. Hamilton, who later sold the home to Mrs M.M.A. Borthwick. Mrs Borthwick added the timber section, featuring plaster walls and a shingle roof, to the eastern side of the building, creating a larger loungeroom.

Dr Sam Stephens purchased "Anglea House" in 1907 and renamed it "Trefusis". During his ownership, a timber wing was added to the western side of the home to accommodate a new kitchen and staff quarters.

In 1975, the home was sold to Mr Baker and later that same year to Mr and Mrs Tony Elder, who changed the name back to "Anglea House" and have remained the owners ever since.

The timber section added by Dr Stephens as staff quarters was later transformed into a self-contained guest wing, which was operated as a very popular Bed and Breakfast.
